At The Retreat, wellness has always meant more than what happens inside our walls. We are a modern cannabis dispensary committed to quality products, accessible purchasing, and creating a tranquil space where you can breathe. From the very beginning, our founders have been clear in their message. This company was built with intention to create a sanctuary that feels restorative, inclusive, and deeply rooted in community.
A retreat is not simply a physical place. It is a feeling of belonging. Belonging grows when a community is supported, nurtured, and uplifted. That belief shapes everything we do.
Community engagement is central to who we are.
As a women-owned dispensary in Jersey City, we recognize the complex history surrounding cannabis. For decades, many communities were disproportionately harmed by criminalization. Legalization has created new opportunities, and we believe businesses in this industry carry a responsibility to reinvest in the neighborhoods that endured that harm.
Wellness requires access to opportunity, mobility, food, housing, and dignity. A calm and welcoming dispensary is meaningful, but broader well-being depends on the strength of the surrounding community. Our philosophy is to create an oasis that extends beyond our doors. Here are some of the ways we do that.
One of the partnerships we value most is our sponsorship of a document retrieval program with SCORES Reentry. Reentry programs provide essential support for individuals transitioning back into society after incarceration. One of the biggest barriers they face is access to proper identification. Without a driver’s license, birth certificate, or state ID, it becomes difficult to secure employment, housing, or open a bank account.
Through our sponsorship, we pledged funds to help cover driver’s license fees and other vital document retrieval costs for reentry clients. Having proper identification restores independence and opens new possibilities. It supports stability and forward momentum.
Wellness also includes environmental responsibility. We partnered with environmentally conscious community members to sponsor bike riding lessons that promote sustainable transportation. Reducing car usage helps decrease local greenhouse gas emissions and supports healthier lifestyles.
Transportation equity plays an important role in community well-being. When people have safe and accessible ways to move through their neighborhood by bike, it reduces reliance on cars, improves air quality, and strengthens neighborhood connections..

Caring for shared spaces is part of building pride and connection. That is why we participate in community cleanups throughout the year.
Clean streets and parks improve safety and encourage neighbors to gather. When local businesses show up to do hands-on work, it reinforces a sense of shared investment in the neighborhood. We are proud to contribute our time and energy to keeping our community welcoming and vibrant.
The holiday season can bring joy and togetherness, but it can also create financial pressure for families. We have donated toys to holiday drives hosted by SCORES and the Jersey City Young Democrats. Every child deserves moments of celebration and happiness during the holidays. Supporting these efforts allows us to give back in a meaningful and tangible way. Community care includes celebrating together and helping families create lasting memories.
Access to fresh and healthy food is a cornerstone of public health. We collaborated with Morris Canal Community Development Corporation and Friends of Berry Lane Park to explore bringing a farmer’s market to Berry Lane Park.
While the farmer’s market did not ultimately move forward due to logistical challenges, the process sparked a larger conversation about food access. That dialogue opened the door to exploring a Food FARMacy model, which connects fresh food access with healthcare and broader community support systems.
Progress often begins with discussion and collaboration. We remain committed to supporting creative solutions that strengthen food security and overall health in our neighborhood.
Housing stability is closely connected to overall well-being. We have donated to the Jersey City Affordable Housing Trust Fund to support initiatives that expand access to safe and affordable housing. Rising housing costs impact families, seniors, and young professionals across the city. Contributing to housing-focused efforts helps build long-term resilience within the community. A strong neighborhood depends on stability and opportunity for all residents.

Being a women-owned dispensary influences how we lead and how we give back. Our founders envisioned a business that feels restorative and thoughtful, a space designed for connection and care.
From our tranquil interior atmosphere to our seamless customer service and straightforward ordering process, we are intentional about creating ease. We prioritize accessible purchasing options, quality local product selections, and meaningful community partnerships. Our goal is to grow alongside Jersey City and contribute to its continued strength, and we are always open to new ways to support that mission.
There is hustle and bustle in daily life, and there are also moments meant for rest and recovery.
We believe everyone deserves time to pause and recharge in a space that feels welcoming and calm. We also believe that feeling becomes stronger when it is rooted in a thriving and supported community.
At The Retreat cannabis dispensary in New Jersey, we invite you to create your own retreat while knowing that your support contributes to meaningful local impact. Community is foundational to wellness, and we are proud to help nurture both.
